HISTORY
Carinthia shoe repair has been serving Montrealers for nearly 80 years. Founded in the 1940’s, it has remained in the same family since 1956. John Rasinger, a boot-maker and recent immigrant from Austria, got hired at Carinthia in the 1950’s and would then take over possession of the shop with his wife Joan, in 1967. He put his boot-making skills to their fullest potential, making custom fitted leather ski boots and orthopaedic shoes while also specializing in repairs. In 1997, his son in law, Dominique Bergeron, began his apprenticeship at the shop. Dominique and his wife Karen have been the proud owners of Carinthia since 2000.
Carinthia has been in its present location, at 3412 Saint-Antoine Ouest, since January 2015. Through all the changes the shop has been through over its 80 years in operation, what remains however, is the superior quality of the work done by our artisans. We will continue to offer our exceptional services to Downtown Montreal for many years to come.
